How to apply
Eligibility
Creative Growth serves adult artists with developmental, mental and physical disabilities who share an interest in exploring creativity. We primarily serve people with developmental disabilities who are eligible for Regional Center services. For those who are not Regional Center eligible, admission is determined on a case-by-case basis. We require no previous
art experience, only a sincere desire to engage in and enjoy the art-making process.
Our Programs
Our day program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our Arts and Social Recreation program runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 2:00-6:00 p.m. We also offer a summer youth art program for high school students with developmental disabilities. For more information, visit the Program Overview page.
Application and Integration Process
1. First, talk with your case manager, informing them of your interest in Creative Growth.
2. Then, you or your case manager should contact our Client Services Coordinator, Tracy Chocholousek, to set up an initial studio and gallery tour. You should plan to attend with either your caregiver, your ILS coach, or your case manager.
3. If after the tour, you are interested in attending Creative Growth, inform your case manager who will assist you to schedule a formal intake and assessment meeting at Creative Growth.
4. The first three months of your enrollment will be a trial period. This gives you the opportunity to fully integrate into our program. Upon the successful completion of your trial period, we will have a meeting with you to talk about your experience and to establish your personal goals, as they relate to your work at Creative Growth.
5. Congratulations! You are now formally enrolled in the Creative Growth Art Center program. As a Creative Growth artist, you now have the opportunity for your work to be exhibited and sold in our gallery, as well as in national and international exhibitions.
