Farewell from Becki Couch-Alvarado, CG's Executive Director

My heart is heavy as I say farewell to my Creative Growth family. After almost 15 years with the organization, the last 4 as Executive Director, I will step away at the end of November to start a new chapter in my life. I leave behind a beautiful, creative community and I take with me years of incredible memories and an education on collaboration, empathy, and authenticity. I am humbled and grateful to have been a leader of this organization and while I can not begin to imagine what my days will look like without the artists and staff of CG, I look forward to taking the experiences of my journey and my knowledge of what is possible and applying this energy elsewhere.

Art is a powerful tool and I have seen firsthand the empowering impact it has on our community. If you have never entered the CG studio, I recommend you schedule a visit immediately. Creative Growth holds a positive, loving, and creative energy like nowhere else. It is a space filled with curiosity, talent, experimentation, and absolute acceptance. From the Venice Biennale to a studio party, the Creative Growth artists are celebrated and celebrate each other with genuine support and endless enthusiasm. It is rare to find such an environment free of competition and judgment.

The past 15 years of this organization have been full of growth and evolution. The artists have been recognized as important contributors in the worlds of art, fashion, and design and they continue to push the boundaries in every way. I am proud to have been a part of this growth and success and to have supported our artists’ paths forward.

Creative Growth is one of the most important organizations of our time; important not only for the artists who work in our studio, but also for the outsiders who are having their minds opened (and blown) by our artists’ visionary contributions. I am grateful for our incredible community of supporters whose generosity enables us to continue to provide this unique space for our artists and for our dedicated volunteers who come week after week to support the work they do. I am truly honored to have worked alongside an extraordinary staff whose talent, energy, and dedication has set the highest standard for our studio, gallery, and creative community. The work they do is the foundation for the success of our artists and organization as a whole.

Most of all, I am grateful for the Creative Growth artists for guiding me through this journey and for being a source of inspiration everyday.

I look forward to welcoming a new ED into this amazing community and to supporting Creative Growth in new ways. I hope to see you at the next event.

With love and gratitude,
