Creative Growth is thrilled to present a collaborative new project titled Huellas de Luz y Sombra (Imprints of Light and Shadow) for Oakland Museum of California's 25th annual El Día de los Muertos Celebration. Huellas de Luz y Sombra incorporates personal photographs, imagery, and handwritten letters from Creative Growth’s community of artists, staff and volunteers to honor and celebrate the memory of our loved ones who have passed.

Creative Growth artists created Imprints of their loved ones with negative transparencies and relevant personal objects that were laid onto fabric soaked in light-sensitive material.  Guided by an unpredictable and organic process that mimics life, sunlight was used to expose the unique compositions of each panel. Each piece of fabric was then collectively sewn together and laid over a structure of natural materials to house, support and connect the community’s shared experience of loss.

Thanks to Veronica Rojas, Julie Plasencia, Mimí Siller, Miel Lister, Meadow Presley, Josie Potter, Cristina Moraes,  Amy Scheinbaum, Jan Fletcher, Wren collins, Marlee Breunig, Matt Dostal, Jason D'atonis, Jeff Schonberg and Sebastian Plasencia Schonberg and the Creative Growth Community for their contributions to this project.
