Jo Beal is a fiber artist. She begins a new piece with an underlying structure, in many cases a rod or frame, before carefully wrapping it in layers of thread and yarn until the underlying structure is obscured and the thread becomes a sculptural element. Beal pays particular attention to textures, and chooses threads with varying line qualities, from fuzzy mohair to the defined line of sewing thread.

Jo Beal es un artista de fibra. Comienza una nueva pieza con una estructura subyacente, en muchos casos una varilla o un marco, antes de envolverla cuidadosamente en capas de hilo y estambre hasta que la estructura subyacente se oscurece y el hilo se convierte en un elemento escultórico.
