EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CREATIVE GROWTH ART CENTER
The Executive Director, as the chief executive officer of Creative Growth, holds a multifaceted role. This position involves managing senior staff, setting programmatic and curatorial direction, securing diverse funding streams, overseeing fiscal management, and advocating for the advancement of artists with disabilities within the art world. Additionally, the Executive Director is responsible for building national and international relationships within the disability and art communities, organizing the annual Creating Communities symposium, and representing Creative Growth in various contexts.
This role demands a visionary leader with executive-level management experience and a hands-on approach to daily operations. A deep understanding of Creative Growth's artists and staff is essential, along with sensitivity to the nuances of developmental disabilities and their impacts on individuals, their families, and support systems.
Applications accepted until September 3, 2024. Send CV and letter of interest to EDsearch@creativegrowth.org. No phone calls please.
MANDARIN INTERPRETER, CREATIVE GROWTH ART CENTER
Creative Growth Art Center seeks a part-time (2-8 hrs/week) Mandarin-English interpreter to provide language access to a Mandarin-speaking artist. The interpreter will primarily provide language support in the studio, where the artist works with facilitators to create various art media. This interpretation is consecutive and non-continuous, with plenty of downtime. Some shifts will take place in the gallery or external locations. This may involve simultaneous and continuous interpretation.
This position is different from many conventional interpreter positions. We are looking for someone who not only provides linguistic support, but also encourages artistic expression, socialization, and community building. Ideally, the interpreter will develop a trusting relationship with the artist and will help to foster relationships between the respective artist, other artists, and staff.
The right candidate will be fully aligned with Creative Growth's core values of creativity, respect, care, self-expression, and accessibility and commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Please contact Artist Services Language & Access Aide Emma Peyton by emailing emma@creativegrowth.org. Please include information about your interpreter experiences and why you are interested in this opportunity.
