Joe Spears’ expressive depictions of neighborhood buildings, friendly (or sometimes un-) dogs, and favorite basketball stars are rendered with thick black outlines and bold planes of color. Spears often brings to life these detailed interpretations of animals through the use of papier-mâché sculpture and video animation.
