From The Good Luck Gallery:

The Good Luck Gallery is delighted to present Issue 3: A Group Show with Creative Growth, opening October 20, 2018. The exhibition features seven established and emerging artists working out of the acclaimed Creative Growth Art Center (Est. 1974), a progressive art studio in Oakland, CA that serves artists with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities.

Curated in conjunction with the launch of Creative Growth Magazine: Issue 3, which is “devoted to the mysteries of the unknown, whether it is paranormal contact, the transformative alchemy of collaboration, or the imaginative power of art itself,” the exhibition includes delicate, fantastical watercolors by Aurie Ramirez; the uncanny anthropomorphic collages of John Hiltunen; and idealized, socially conscious portraits by William Scott.

Textiles, ceramics, and mixed media sculptures by other gifted artists - including Christine Szeto, Latefa Noorzai, Ying Ge Zhou, and Ruth Stafford - will also be featured in this celebratory exhibition.

The artists working out of Creative Growth have received national and international recognition for their exceptional art practices and many have exhibited extensively. In 2009 William Scott was given a solo exhibition at White Columns, New York; He has shown at the Oakland Museum of California, Oakland, and is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Aurie Ramirez has shown at Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York, Jack Hanley Gallery, Los Angeles, and Collection l’Art Brut, Lausanne, Switzerland. John Hiltunen was included in a major exhibition curated by Matthew Higgs at Gallery Paule Anglim, San Francisco and has exhibited with the Oakland Museum of California, Oakland and was given a solo exhibition at The Good Luck Gallery in 2017.

The Good Luck Gallery is thrilled to devote the final exhibition of 2018 to the exuberant, visionary work of Creative Growth artists!
