This year, Creative Growth’s gallery will be transformed into a garden oasis for our annual Home Show. Walk among the breezy textiles and discover the lush selection of ceramic vases and planters, furniture, textiles, pillows, blankets, and all the accoutrements needed for a dreamy, outdoor celebration.
Imagine that you are surrounded by flowers. At one turn, in Ricardo Gaitan’s hands, they are iridescent, like fireworks blooming and bursting around you; at the next, they are bold yellow with shocks of green by Marion Bolton; or dense and fern-like, veering into abstraction in Sher-ron Freeman’s conception. A single bee, buzzing through a thicket of wildflowers rendered tall and wild by Rosena Finister, whispers: “Honey, I love honey.”
As you relax upon an embroidered quilt of words by Christine Szeto, your friends tuck in around you, some upon ottomans with hand-hooked tops from the Creative Growth’s rug studio. The spread before you is glorious: one-of-a-kind ceramic vases and planters full of flora donated by Crimson Horticulture Rarities and Thornhill Nursery flourish among colorfully glazed ceramic pitchers, plates, beer steins, and fountains. While these may hold your edible treats, Larry Randolph’s ceramic food creations — lusciously glazed donuts and slick hotdogs — and Lawrence Choy’s impossibly towered clay hamburger and fries feed your imagination.
