Oakland's celebrated studio and gallery for artists with disabilities invites you to ditch the paper or plastic, and carry a Creative Growth tote bag instead! Carry On features 500, one-of-a-kind bags and represents the completion of a yearlong project funded by StopWaste--a public agency responsible for reducing the waste stream in Alameda County.
Each original, art tote bag is made from 90% re-used or recycled materials. This first time project has created a unique and functional blank canvas for Creative Growth artists to express their visionary iconography and design. With artwork by Dan Miller, Donald Mitchell, Kim Clark, Franna Lusson and nearly every artist in the Creative Growth studio!
POINT-OF-VIEW | Maureen Clay: Upstairs in our Viewing Room gallery, we highlight emerging artist Maureen Clay, whose pointillist papier-mâché rocks set a meteor shower-like backdrop for a colorful exploration in paint and fiber.
