Founded in 1974, Creative Growth Art Center has achieved international recognition in the field of art and disabilities for its innovative programs and for the quality of art produced by the 150 artists working at the Center. Located in Uptown Oakland, Creative Growth Art Center provides programs in visual arts for adults with physical, mental and developmental disabilities. Artwork fostered in this unique environment is included in prominent collections and museums worldwide. The Gallery is seeking a volunteer for the Summer. This position is ideal for students with a demonstrated interest in contemporary art that wish to gain hands-on experience working in a gallery that has a growing archive of over 140 artists.
Volunteer tasks include but are not limited to gallery sitting, filing artwork, and assisting with back of house organization. Must be able to commit to at least 1 full day a week (9am to 4pm), or two 3.5-hour sessions a week, and available for special events and/or gallery openings.
