Creative Growth has partnered with Volcom and Rich Jacobs to receive proceeds from their collaborative jacket for Volcom’s Denim Canvas Collection.
From Volcom:
The art created by Rich Jacobs here for Volcom was Inspired by old break dance crews and street gangs who always had excellent jackets. As a kid, he mentioned that he only had regular jackets so... he made one that I would have wanted to wear back then. This piece of art was made using white spray pant and black posca paint marker.
Michael Sieben, Volcom’s Global Art Curator, handpicked a crew of ten artists to embellish Volcom denim jackets any way they saw fit. Each contributor was also asked to choose a charity to which they wanted the pre-tax profits of their jackets to be donated. Neither Volcom nor the artists are profiting from the sales. All of the jackets, like the artists’ aesthetics, are different, so no two were approached in the same manner, and although these objects are meant to be works of art, the buyer can choose whether they display them or risk exposing them to the elements by wearing them—art has no rules. Truly unique, truly charitable, this give-back program is something you can truly feel good about.
Rich Jacobs chose to donate the proceeds from this jacket towards Creative Growth because he believes they get it and give back to the community instead of just try to get people to buy more stuff. He further believes they have good sharing vibes and kindness goes a long way in this world in my book. Rich quotes "Imagine if everyone tried to help others out and handed out art supplies for people to express themselves with...oh wait that is exactly what they do. I love that. Best place to see art kinda anywhere too."
