Friday, February 9, 6pm Join Creative Growth at the Fabric Marker Jam at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive's Fisher Family Art Lab on Friday, February 9 at 6pm.
Bring a garment to draw on and use the Art Lab's fabric-marker stash to explore the expressive potential of your style. Creative Growth will serve as inspiration with a selection of fashion and textile artworks from our annual runway event, and the womxn-of-color DJ collective Chulita Vinyl Club will keep us moving and marking with an all-vinyl DJ set. The Fabric Marker Jam is part of a series of performance lectures, performances, readings, and participatory workshops in the Fisher Family Art Lab offered in conjunction with the current exhibition Way Bay.
Way Bay is a sweeping exploration of the creative energies that have emerged from the San Francisco Bay Area over the past two centuries. An innovatively organized exhibition of art and film, plus poetry, performance documentation, and archival materials, Way Bay features nearly two hundred works that reveal the depth and diversity of artists’ engagement with the region’s geographic, social, and cultural landscape.
Chulita Vinyl Club was launched in December 2014 as an all-girl all-vinyl club for self-identifying womxn of color, providing a space for empowerment and togetherness. The DJ collective now spans seven national chapters of vinyl-loving girls.
