(Oakland, CA June 21, 2023) - Creative Growth Art Center is pleased to announce the opening of "Beautiful Peace On Earth," a group exhibition curated by Creative Growth Executive Director Ginger Shulick Porcella. The exhibition showcases the works of 17 current and alumni artists and will be held at the Diane Rosenstein Gallery in Los Angeles. Recognized as the oldest and largest studio and gallery program worldwide dedicated to artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Creative Growth Art Center has been instrumental in fostering creativity and empowering individuals to express themselves through art. Scheduled to open its doors on July 15, 2023, this exhibition will present an impressive collection of nearly 100 sculptures, paintings, video installations, and works on paper, providing a captivating glimpse into the depth and breadth of the remarkable artwork produced at Creative Growth's renowned studio in Oakland, CA. Coinciding with Creative Growth's upcoming 50th Anniversary, "Beautiful Peace On Earth" serves as a commemorative survey of works by both established and emerging artists who have defied conventional boundaries.
The exhibition proudly features works by artists such as Barry Regan, Dan Miller, Donald Mitchell, Dwight Macintosh, Franna Lusson, John Hiltunen, John Martin, Latefa Noorzai, Monica Valentine, Nicole Storm, Ron Veasey, Susan Janow, Tony Pedemonte, William Scott and Ying Ge Zhou. In addition to the established artists, "Beautiful Peace On Earth" introduces emerging talent to the gallery scene. Nathaniel Jackson, an up-and-coming artist, makes his gallery debut with a series of captivatingly abstracted monsters rendered in watercolor. Jackson's imaginative creations evoke a sense of wonder and curiosity, inviting viewers to explore the fascinating depths of his artistic imagination. Alongside Jackson's compelling works, the exhibition will also showcase paintings on found photographs by the talented Alice Wong, further enriching the diverse range of artistic expressions on display.

The exhibition will be open to the public from July 15th to August 26th 2023, at Diane Rosenstein Gallery, located at 831 N. Highland Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90038. The exhibition will conclude on August 26, 2023, with a closing party featuring a screening of artist Cheryl Dunn's film, "Beyond I Wanna Go," which documents ten years of Creative Growth's iconic "Beyond Trend" fashion show. During the event, fashion pieces designed by Creative Growth artists will be on display and available for purchase.
